Edgewater is a narrow borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, stretched along the Hudson River beneath the Palisades cliffs, directly across from Manhattan’s Upper West Side. Once lined with factories — including a Ford assembly plant — it’s now known for waterfront living, skyline views, the Hudson River Waterfront Walkway and a famous Japanese marketplace with a food court. From industry to waterfront

For much of the 20th century, Edgewater’s riverfront was industrial, home to factories and a Ford assembly plant. Over recent decades, the waterfront was redeveloped into apartments, shopping and parks, with public access along the river.

Getting around
