An executive Sprinter is a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter van converted by a specialist upfitter into a luxury passenger vehicle. Instead of the factory’s rows of bench seats, it typically has leather captain’s chairs, a high roof you can stand under, premium lighting, screens, sound insulation and charging at every seat. These vans have become the standard for corporate groups, wedding parties and VIPs who want to travel together in comfort.

What a typical conversion includes

  • Individual reclining seats with armrests, often in leather, arranged in rows or in a club (facing) layout.
  • A high roof with a finished headliner and indirect LED lighting.
  • Enhanced sound insulation in the walls and floor.
  • Upgraded climate control with separate rear air conditioning.
  • Entertainment: large screens, Bluetooth audio and Wi-Fi.
  • Charging ports at each seat.
  • Privacy: tinted windows and sometimes a partition between driver and passengers.

Layouts vary with the intended use:

Built by upfitters, not the factory

Mercedes builds the van; specialist companies — often in the U.S. — do the conversion. Reputable upfitters work within Mercedes’ guidelines for modifying the vehicle and use seating and belts designed to meet federal safety standards. When a conversion changes the vehicle significantly, weight distribution, crash protection and electrical load all have to be engineered, not improvised.
